This window style are made with a traditional weights system. Cords and weights are the traditional forms in which timber box sash windows operate. The mechanism works by counterbalancing the weight of the window with a lead bar attached to a chord that rolls over a pulley enabling the sash to slide up and down. The system is housed in a box built into the side of each window and hidden from view.
Spring Sash windows are a modern version of the traditional weighted box sash windows. They use a spring loaded device to counter balance a sash, eliminating the need for a bulky box section frame. This results in a more slimline design and larger glass area on the windows.
The Tilt & Slide Sash window offers the possibility to clean your windows from the inside, being a great option for difficult to access positions. These windows operate the same way as a traditional sliding sash with a hidden advantage which allows the sash to be opened into the room to an angle of approximately 50 degrees, allowing sage and easy access to the outer panes.
We can create bespoke shapes including bowed, curved and arched sash windows that sensitively replicate your existing windows.
We can work with you to fully replace, partially replace or restore your curved and arched sash windows in a way that stays true to the character of your property.
